Friends are the greatest. Someone you can party with, share memories, someone to cry on and rely on. Well that's only true on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Reality check, not all friends are good for you. I know you shouldn't listen to everything in the movies but I heard some good advice on a Tyler Perry movie. He compared relationships to trees. Some people are leaves and change with the season. Then you have your branches; they look strong but after one good storm, they break. Then you have your roots: most trees have about three to ten roots. They're strong and even after a storm the roots are still standing long after the other limbs have blown away. Those are the people you hang on to. Yes, your roots .I've noticed that I've gained an amazing power.
No, I don't have x-ray vision to see inside of men's…uhh hearts. I have the power to distinguish my leaves from my branches from my roots. Talent, right? Yes, I agree. The ability to just let go of people. I understand in business, it is advised to never burn bridges, but I'm not burning bridges I'm simply distinguishing the real from the fake. I can spot a bologna homie and bad wig from 5 miles away.
A lot of times holding onto the wrong people are damaging to our own life plans. We're so distracted by making time happy and solving their problems that we lose sight of our golden path. It's healthy to give designated distances, mental restraining orders. Let me explain, once you put people in their perspective places, keep them at certain distances from your heart. Friends are great, but loving yourself enough to remember that some people don't always have your best interest at heart is more beneficial.
Here is your mission, as one of my readers I automatically love you (like a branch kind of love!)I want you to reflect on instances with different people, and if in different events your left screwed when trying to help them. Be honest, because you'll only be hurting yourself! If you find that a particular someone(s) will request your assistance but leave you hanging, its time to enforce that restraining order. Maybe you haven't caught on to my theme here so I'll make it just very blunt, happiness comes from loving yourself! Yes, it feels good to help others and I'm not saying to stop doing such, but make sure you haven't been sacrificing your own needs. Stay strong, stay blessed!

I like the concept of this video. It seems like video directors are going in the direction of using photo laced videos. (Check out the Fam-Lay video) The idea of the song is great and has a lot of meaning. I like to hear Wayne speaks on conscious tracks....he really shows his range.

I guess Russell feels its time to hang it on up. Russell is one of my inspirations to make it in life. He came from nothing to....to dating a super model like Kimora Lee (even though she is like 8 inches taller than him) to selling a company for $140 million. You have to be inspired by that kind of thing.....especially the Kimora Lee part!!!Russell Simmons has stepped down as CEO of Phat Fashions, the company he founded in 1992, that launched the popular Phat Farm brand of clothing. Simmons sold Phat Fashions to Kellwood for $140 million in cash in January of 2004, but stayed on as CEO, managing the day-to-day operations of the company including the marketing of the Phat Farm and Baby Phat lines of clothing and the company's various brands. "I have enjoyed my association with Kellwood over the last three years," Simmons said in a statement. "We have accomplished much during this short period of time -- and I leave the division and the brand in great hands. There are so many things I want to achieve, and this is the appropriate moment for me to move on to my next business venture."

Its something about this song that does it for me. I fucks with it. Makes me regret not getting a grill back when I was ballin' outta control and could get it. LOL. Ricky Ross kills it, and the hook is money. What more could you want?

I have followed Noreaga's career from The War Report with Capone and Noreaga. N.O.R.E. has never changed for nobody and I respect that. He still keeps it Thugged Out, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Double standards are the root of all evil. I am a woman of the 21st century and if I chose to have sexual relations with more than one man…THEN LET ME BE! Promiscuity is always considered being a ho. Men assume, women can't have sex without feelings…bullshit!
In my college dorm, my floor mates would constantly discuss their sexual escapades. Outrageous laughter and exchange of male insults filled the hall ways of our single sex dormitory. The same conversations took place in my all girl high school. See, what was lost in translation of time is that women have a stronger sex drive than most men. Over time, after being disrespected by men and our feelings going unrecognized we have adapted and joined the ranks of the "No Strings Attached Club". As my favorite rap song once said, and I quote "Ni**as ain't shit, but ho's and tricks." Yes liberation has arrived.
But on the flip side, I am coming into my lady hood; I have retired my freaky ways and have regained my femininity in the sense. I now care that my husband to be probably wouldn't like that his girl has been around the block or if my Sleep Number (not the one by Posture Pedic) is higher than his. Not saying it is for the record, but men think if a woman has more than three partners her life that she is a loose goose.
So what to do ladies? Do we embrace the need for sexual liberation or remain the pure ladies our male counterparts hope for? Well the harsh reality of this particular situation is that there is no compromising. You is or you ain't, you will or you won't, you do or you die. It really is a case by case situation. If your one of my girls who could care less about the thoughts of some dude…put your freakum dress on and get it! Just stay the hell away from my man! As for my ladies, who hope for the nice wedding, white picket fence and 2.5 kids one day, you're going to have to suck it up and visit your local adult novelty store.

The internet has deemed this the "Lil Wayne/Baby Diss." I'm not going to call it that since only the first 4 bars are dedicated to the two. I mean....there are two more verses and Lil Wayne's name only comes out ONCE....although that is still enough to ignite a battle between the two. (YES!!!) But the song is still catchy, but doesn't give proof that 50 will outsell Kanye. I'm sorry 50.

The question that strikes fear in hearts of every monogamous relationship is: Am I getting played or not. I know here in Atlanta, the ratio is 13 women to every 1 man. Now that can drive even the most secure woman a bit crazy. You can't always have your mate on a tight leash but at the same time you want to know when, where and what the hell are they doing when your not around. I can't tell you your partner isn't cheating, but just to keep you from going Dog the Bounty hunter on your special someone, here are a few tips to help you keep your cool:
1.) GET A LIFE:
Stay focused on you. Being in love and loving someone is a great thing, but being obsessed with their life will take you away from what should always come first, YOU! After work or school, get involved in some activities (maybe boxing, just incase things pop off, you got a great right hook at your side) Hang out with your friends, and make sure to keep a great balance.
2.) CONFIDENCE IS KEY
Know everyday that having a special person doesn't define who you are, and that if indeed things go the wrong way that other possibilities are waiting for you. Maybe even better than whom you have now!
3.) REMAIN CALM
Always remember, no one is perfect! So sometimes your "pookie" is going to slip up. Don't over react, just stay cool, calm, and collective, acting on impulse will only lead to regret. My theory… no one is worth catching a case over! Put the knife down and pick up the bible, it may save you a 5-10!
Whenever tough situations come your way, remember that tomorrow's possibilities are endless. But of course, have faith. If you chose to be with this person you clearly had to have a good reason why. Stay strong, stay blessed.

Kanye was over in the UK speaking on the September 11 war with 50. The fans over in UK even go as far to call Mr. West the "King of Hip-Hop" right now. WOW.....is that a valid comment? I'm not sure, at least not until the album drops.

If you don't know who Mr. Bobby Creekwater is...well, you are about to get your introduction now. The dude is raw. Make sure you keep your ears open for him, cuz I guarantee he's going to hit the ground running.
The credits say the track was produced by Eminem....and it sounds like NOTHING he's produced in the past. The boy Em is really stepping it up.
Shout out to BGOV/Shady/Aftermath/Interscope camp.

I love this "Bed" record. The remix is straight, but Nina Sky comes off a tad bit too weak. I think J. Holiday should have gone with someone a tad more stronger or with a little more sex appeal than Nina Sky.....but its still a great song to get ya groove on to. LOL.

I have heard about this case day after day, especially staying here in ATL. For those that do not know about whats going on, Michael Vick faces time in jail. Along with a group of friends, he is charged with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines. (Click here to read the indictment in full) It is said that the State has evidence that dogs were fighting and that the losers died in the pit or sometimes were electrocuted, drowned, hanged or shot.
I know its a little late to talk about it but I haven't seen it anywhere in the entertainment blogging world, but this does effect us hip-hop fans as a whole....especially since pitbulls are our dog of choice (i.e. DMX, Eve "Pitbull in a skirt.) Plus Vick has to make a decision whether or not he wants to put in a plea agreement before the jury convene on Monday to consider additional charges (possibly racketeering.)
The picture maybe a satire, but the topic is a serious one indeed because another promising African-American's life is on the line. He has lost his deals with Rawlings, Reebok and Nike.

Talib always hits it out the park when he speaks about love. On all of his albums he has that one track to a young lady that is guaranteed to get shorty to....well you know. Then it cuts to one of my favorite tracks off of the Kanye West mixtape (In The Mood). Yeah...that group of artists are really doing it big right now. I can't wait for this album to drop.

While most of us look forward to retirement, Shawn Carter, better known to the planet as master rapper Jay-Z, couldn't stand the view from the sidelines following his 2003 farewell The Black Album. Despite a frenetic schedule as president of Def Jam Recordings and co-founder of its ultra-successful Roc-A-Fella Records imprint, Jay-Z managed to squeeze in a comeback last year with Kingdom Come, his 11th studio album, which debuted at the top of the pop and rap music charts, selling some 2 million copies.
But those weren't the only paychecks coming in. Jay-Z also owns the 40/40 Club sports bar franchise, with locations in New York and Atlanta, and a small stake in the NBA's New Jersey Nets. (He's often photographed in courtside seats alongside his girlfriend, pop superstar Beyoncé.) Plus the native New Yorker (from Brooklyn's hardscrabble Marcy Projects) collects income from blue-chip endorsement deals with Budweiser, Hewlett-Packard (nyse: HPQ - news - people ), and General Motors (nyse: GM - news - people ). All told, Jay-Z banked an estimated $34 million in 2006, earning him the top spot on Forbes' first-ever list of hip-hop Cash Kings.

Cnet has reviewed the latest Madden and gives it a good rating. I'm not a big Madden fan....mainly because I am always on the grind trying to make my million before I reach a quarter of my life (thats 25 for you slow folks.) Check it out.
Source: Cnet
It's taken two and a half years and three releases, but Madden is finally back to form. In Madden NFL 08 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, EA Tiburon has put together the most complete version of Madden seen on either console to date. The gameplay is tight, practically every old feature that had been previously missing is back in some form or another, and new additions have been made that significantly change how you play the game--for the better. By no means is this year's Madden flawless; it's definitely got some quirks and underpolished aspects that will probably drive some people crazy. But taken as a whole, Madden 08 is easily the first great entry for the series on the 360 and PS3.

In case you haven't heard, Ms. Foxy Brown was said to have smacked her neighbor with a Blackberry (check out our info on the new Blackberry Curve coming to T-Mobile for your very own weapon LOL). I'm really mad at this because it will only delay the chances of hearing my favorite female rapper's album.
Source: 7Online.comThe 27-year-old, whose real name is Inga Marchand, turned herself in to detectives at the 77 Precinct at around 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon. She was charged with felony assault, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. Brown was arraigned last night and released on $5,000 bail. Her next court date is Sept. 26.
Police say the trouble-prone rapper, who is on parole, was accused of assaulting her 25-year-old neighbor on July 30 at around 6:50 p.m. at the corner of Carlton Avenue and Prospect Place. The rapper allegedly smacked the woman with her cell phone, a Blackberry, during an argument.
The victim was reportedly taken to Brooklyn Hospital for loosening of the teeth, swelling of the lip and swelling of the right eye. She filed a complaint with police, and after an investigation, the rapper agreed to turn herself in yesterday.

I gotta say....I really do believe Kanye West is going to have the hottest hip-hop album of the year. There is no one that puts as much into music as Mr. West in modern hip-hop. This is just an overdue track....Kanye and Wayne. Both are on top of their game....and this track is proof.
